Rep. Kristen
Dexter Announces Run for Reelection
Read press release HERE
I’m
running for reelection because I helped put our community on
the road to recovery following a national economic downturn brought
on by years of misguided, short-sighted economic policy.
I know going back to those policies would not serve our neighbors
well. I believe that by listening to my constituents first and
fighting for their priorities, finding compromise and building
consensus, we will continue on the right path together.
Despite steady economic recovery, there are still people struggling
and there are more tough decisions to make, but I’ve never
been one to shy away from hard work.
I worked tirelessly to pass a budget on time for the first time
since 1977, to close a corporate tax loophole that had shifted
the tax burden to property taxpayers and small businesses, to
make historic cuts in spending to the tune of $3.2 billion, and
to do all of that without raising income taxes, sales taxes,
or payroll taxes.
In addition to creating a frugal yet workable budget, we passed
more than $200 million in job creation incentives and countless
other economic development proposals that are helping businesses
big and small retain and create jobs, train and educate their
workforce, and gain access to the capitol they need to grow.
As a result of our leadership, the Chippewa Valley has one of
the lowest unemployment rates in the state, recently dropping
below 8%.
I believe that a strong Wall St is critical – but not
at the expense of Main Street. I will continue to fight for a
more fair and sensible tax system, while demanding accountability
from our financial sector. Long-established businesses
in the Chippewa Valley have been circulating dollars through
the economy of West Central Wisconsin for decades, and we must
be focused on helping those traditional businesses grow and adapt
to an ever-changing economy while also focusing on attracting
new business and technology, like clean energy jobs.
I’m prepared to tackle the challenges that lie ahead,
because I have worked with my community to tackle tough times
in my first term. I look forward to continuing my service to
the people of the 68th Assembly, and I hope I can continue to
earn their support on November 2nd.
Sincerely,

Representative Kristen Dexter
